MONKEY BUSINESS

These cheeky little primates have been brought to our attention by The Body Shop Foundation. The Foundation has given £5,000 to The Colobus Trust, which is working to protect this rare and endangered species in the coastal forests of southern Kenya.

The monkeys get into all kinds of scrapes – like road accidents, electrocution, poisoning, and dog and snake bites. The grant has helped to build a quarantine, where sick and injured monkeys recover after veterinary treatment. It has also funded a water-harvesting system, giving the monkeys in care fresh, clean water.

When the monkeys are better, they’re taken back to the spot where they were rescued. This gives them the best chance to find their troop again and live (we hope) happily ever after.
